Each October, the elementary students from the Switzer Mesa Campus undertake a top secret task: they must learn all they can about an individual of their choosing, only to be revealed on October 31st! This is the annual Mystery History celebration, where students research a historical figure and become that person for a day.
On the morning of Oct 31, the students begin by parading through the school dressed as their real-life character. Then, they read an (auto)biographical report written in the first person (“I was born…”) which gives clues to their audience of peers and parents about their identity. The students have a great time learning about legislators, peace-makers, authors, scientists, advocates, athletes and others who have made a significant impact on our world.
